Natural Wellness: 10 Steps to Start Fresh

01. Unhelpful Habits

Make a list of anything you partake in that you feel is not conducive to living a healthy life. It can be ANYTHING; my original list was just about EVERYTHING in my life.

02. Breath is Life!

Our ability to do anything depends on fresh oxygen being delivered to our bloodstream. Without clean, fresh, mold-free air to breathe, the body becomes polluted and unable to function at its best.

03. Get outside + MOVE

Much like breathing clean air, physical movement assists in the absorption of nutrients and the elimination of toxins. Even if it's just a 5-10 minute walk, beginning and/or ending the day with fresh air and movement instead of coffee and TV is a good start. Sunrise walks are good for uplifting the mind while sunset walks help the mind create closure on the day's events. Fresh starts and letting go are key-mindset-shifts.

04. Clean eating and grocery shopping

Eating healthy food doesn't have to be expensive, time-consuming, or inconvenient. What matters the most is the connection YOU make to the food YOU are eating.

Once I learned the common risks that come with eating fast food and processed foods, it was easy for me to no longer buy them. Every time I learned something, I adjusted my budget and shopping routine to accommodate better choices. Sacrifices in other budget areas may be necessary.

05. What's your water's pH?

The human body thrives on a proper pH balance throughout the different systems. This is an entirely different topic altogether but since water is the second-most-important thing besides air, WHERE our hydration comes from is a good question to ask ourselves. Sourcing, bottling, and alkalinity level.

06. Meditate + Regulate

Meditation is simply sitting with yourself and learning how to pause. When we are go-go-go all day, every day, the body develops chronic inflammation. Chronically inflamed bodily systems often communicate to us through pain. This inflammation can be avoided to some degree by slowing TF down and not overburdening yourself with responsibility. Burnout is not success.

07. Product Swaps

Start with skincare products because the skin absorbs just about anything put on it. From the scalp and hair to the face, body, and toes, toss out what isn't going to serve your journey. There's an app called "Think Dirty" that allows you to easily scan a products UPC to reveal its toxcity.

After the bathroom, tackle the cleaning products, laundry soap, and air fresheners.

08. Gut Health = Brain Health

The immune system pretty much starts in the gut. Alongside a decent grocery list, probiotics can help keep the balance in your digestive tract. This can lead to a better blood-barrier around your brain and other main systems.

09. Cut toxic relationships

Yes, mental well-being can have just as much to do with the physical state of the body as does water, food, and breathing good air.

Cutting out relationships that weigh you down or simply putting up boundaries without guilt is a good way to start alleviating the dark mental cloud you may be facing.

10. This is your life

Remember that this life is yours. Detach from any outlets that express perfection rather than honesty and don't compare yourself to anyone. This is your journey and there is no set way of living healthily. Every body is unique and should be honored as such.
